Today we are highlighting one of our #diamondstrong HVAC team members who has been with us for over 5 years. Brad has an interesting background and we are so excited to chat with him and let you get to know him a little better!
DMC: Hey Brad, how has your day been?
Brad McGuire: Busy, I started up in the northland, made two different approved repairs to roof-top units, and then drove to midtown to make another approved repair. It is repair season!
DMC: Well, busy is good, yes?
Brad: Definitely – I love to be busy it is so much better than being slow.
DMC: Awesome, so let’s get to it:
DMC: How long have you worked for DMC and why did you join the team?
Brad: I have been with DMC for 6 years as of December 15, 2020. I originally joined I because I was impressed with what I read on the website and enjoyed the interview with the owner. I was drawn to the idea of working in a smaller company that focuses on commercial repairs. Often when you start out in the HVAC industry you work in a residential or installation setting. At DMC I was working at commercial locations starting on day one. It was exciting and a boost to my career.
DMC: What was your profession before you joined DMC Service? What attracted you to the HVAC industry?
Brad: I was in the restaurant industry; my last job was Executive Chef at Ruth’s Chris. When the restaurant closed, I decided I wanted to build a career in an industry that was more stable and had good work-life balance. The HVAC industry met those two requirements and was also appealing because of the mental challenge to fix things and work through problems. I love being a fixer, I also love the highly technical aspect of my job.
DMC: What would you like our audience to know about the HVAC industry?
Brad: That it is very technically advanced and there is an enormous amount of knowledge that is required. Each day brings a new challenge and potentially a new piece of equipment.
DMC: That is awesome! I 100% agree, it is fascinating the technology that is behind the HVAC equipment. I’d like to pivot away from your work life and learn more about you personally, so tell us about yourself.
Brad: Live in Raymore and have been married to my wife Vicki for 15 years. We have two boys 10 and 16.
DMC: What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
Brad: I love being down at Lake of the Ozarks, activities with my boys, fishing, camping, and watching motorsports, especially on smaller local tracks like midgets and sprint cars. I still cook, but now for pleasure.
