DMC Service Team Spotlight: Brandon Roach

DMC Service Team Spotlight: Brandon Roach

Today we are highlighting one of our #diamondstrong HVAC team members, Brandon Roach. We are excited to chat with him and let you get to know him a little better!

DMC: Brandon, how long have you been in the HVAC industry?

Brandon: I have been involved in the HVAC industry on and off for my entire life. When I was twelve, I worked for my dad, who owned and operated his own HVAC company. Back then, I helped with general shop work, inventory, and miscellaneous tasks. As soon as I could drive myself to a job site, I started installing HVAC systems.

DMC: What is it you enjoy the most about the industry?

Brandon: I love building things and working with my hands. I have had other careers – but I love that I can always come back to HVAC. Being in HVAC has served as a provision for my family. Knowing that I have the skills and knowledge to be able to provide for them gives me an enormous amount of satisfaction.

DMC: What do you think is the biggest myth about the HVAC industry?

Brandon: More is not always better. For example, someone might say that they are hot, so they think they need a larger unit. It is much more artistic and complex than that. Balancing the bringing in outside air, venting, supply, and return, and how we supply the air to the space, all of it is important to consider. In other words, it is very complex.

DMC: So, tell us, how long have you worked for DMC Service and why did you join the team?

Brandon: I have been with DMC Service for about six months. My brother, Kyle, who is the HVAC division leader, talked up the company for a long time. I was at a point where I needed to make some decisions on my future with my previous employer and the timing was right to make a change and come on board. I found it appealing to work in an environment that was more ‘family’ oriented and had the opportunity to be more involved in the direction of the company. Plus, things like my boss giving everyone PAID time off to go to the Chiefs parade doesn’t hurt – no one does that. DMC really is a special place.

DMC: What is it like having your brother be your boss

Brandon: It is a pain in the *ss. Just kidding! (sort of haha) In all seriousness, I enjoy it immensely. Kyle is a great boss, I really believe in him, and am super proud of him. His experience and knowledge make him the right person for the job. Plus, for me, being able to identify ways for us all to be more successful gives me a lot of joy.

DMC: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Brandon: I am married with three daughters, two of whom are in college, and the youngest is in 6th grade. Around 1999, I started being involved in ministry. I served as a youth pastor for about 16 years. Then in roughly 2010, we moved to southern India to serve in a boarding school for children whose families struggled financially. After that, we moved to north India and opened a coffee shop to benefit the community by running a small business and promoting economic development in the region. In 2016, we came home when my two oldest children were starting high school and I returned to the HVAC industry.

DMC: What do you do when you aren’t at work?

Brandon: Currently, I volunteer with an organization that supports the homeless called Never Alone. This includes a start-up ministry and serving dinner on Thursday evenings. Our family also enjoys two dogs, Frodo and Bilbo, and a guinea pig named Oreo.
