When the system goes down
Our phone is answered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, holidays included. From 8am to 4pm Monday through Thursday, and 8am to 3pm on Friday, you reach a DMC representative. Outside those hours our on-call service answers, a real person rather than a machine, and dispatches straight to the technician on call. Same-day service is available across the Kansas City metro.
How fast a failure needs to be handled depends on what it is costing you. A retail floor at 85 degrees sends customers home by lunchtime. A server room that loses cooling is working against a much shorter clock, and a warehouse with a make-up air problem can turn into a safety issue before it turns into a comfort one. Five rooftop units, replaced by helicopter
A Fortune 500 company in Kansas City needed five 20 ton rooftop units replaced at its headquarters. The building had an expansive footprint, the units sat well back from the edge, and the parking lot left no room to set up. A conventional boom crane was neither safe nor efficient for that lift, so we brought in a helicopter company to pull the old RTUs and set the new ones in place.

What drives the cost of a repair
Two failures that look identical from the ground can price very differently. What moves the number:
- Access. A unit reachable by ladder costs less to work on than one that needs a lift or a crane.
- Component or unit. A contactor or a capacitor is a part and a service call. A failed compressor on an aging unit opens the question of whether it is time to discuss replacing it.
- Age and parts availability. Older equipment can mean a sourced part and a longer wait.
- Refrigerant. What the system runs on affects both the price of a charge and what is worth doing to keep it running.
- Whether the failure spread. A unit that ran hot for a week rarely has just one thing wrong with it.
We will tell you which of these apply to your unit before the work starts, and if the economics favor replacement over another repair, we will say so.
