Our guide to selecting a commercial HVAC company explains why each one matters.

Service and emergency response

Does DMC Service offer 24/7 emergency service?

Yes, every day of the year including holidays, at 913-481-0505. During office hours (8am to 4pm Monday through Thursday, 8am to 3pm Friday) the DMC office picks up. After hours, a live person answers and dispatches the on-call technician.

How fast can DMC Service respond to an emergency?

Calls are triaged by what the failure is doing to your building, so a flooding floor or a server room without cooling goes to the front of the line. Our technicians resolve 80% of emergency calls on the first trip. When you call, say what the building does and what stopped working.

What kinds of buildings does DMC Service work on?

Midsize commercial buildings: warehouses and distribution centers, data centers, banks, strip malls and retail spaces, low-rise offices, and multi-unit properties. Our projects page shows examples.

HVAC equipment and maintenance

What HVAC equipment does DMC Service work on?

Most commercial heating and cooling equipment, across more than 20 brands including Carrier, Trane, Lennox and York:

  • Rooftop units
  • Split and ductless split systems
  • VRF systems and heat pumps
  • Make-up air and exhaust systems
  • Unit heaters

Who offers commercial HVAC preventative maintenance in Kansas City?

DMC Service offers commercial HVAC preventative maintenance across the metro. Each plan is built around your equipment, how hard it runs and how much downtime you can absorb. On every visit a technician inspects, cleans and tunes the equipment and flags worn parts before they fail.

How often should a commercial HVAC system be serviced?

Quarterly for most systems, with a full inspection before the cooling and heating seasons. A data center or another building where downtime is costly may need monthly visits. A technician sets your exact schedule after seeing the equipment.

How long does a commercial rooftop unit last?

It depends on maintenance, run hours and roof conditions, so two units of the same age can be in very different shape. When a major component fails, our repair or replace guide helps you weigh the repair against the unit's age, condition, efficiency and refrigerant.

Can an R-22 system still be serviced?

Yes, with recovered, recycled, reclaimed or stockpiled R-22 only. EPA rules ended US production and import of R-22 on January 1, 2020, and the remaining supply is limited, so ask for the refrigerant cost before approving a recharge. Our R-22 phase out summary has the background.

How can a business lower its HVAC operating costs?

Start with scheduled maintenance. Clean coils, fresh filters and a correct refrigerant charge let equipment run less to hold the same temperature. Then:

  • Program thermostats to set back overnight and on weekends
  • Keep doors and dock areas closed while units run
  • Repair leaking ductwork

More in ten ways to lower commercial AC costs.

Cost and quotes

How much does a commercial HVAC preventative maintenance contract cost?

DMC Service prices each PM contract after a site visit. These move the number:

  • How many units you have, and their tonnage
  • How hard they are to reach
  • How often the technician visits
  • Whether parts are covered

Call 913-481-0505 to set up the walk-through.

How much does a commercial HVAC repair cost?

Every commercial HVAC repair is priced by the failure and the unit. Access, whether a part or the whole unit failed, the unit's age, parts availability and refrigerant all change the price, and DMC Service tells you which of those apply before work starts.

Can DMC Service give a quote over the phone?

No. Commercial work is quoted after a technician walks the site, because the equipment, the access and the condition of the system set the price. Call 913-481-0505 or send us the details and we will schedule the visit.

Commercial plumbing

What is commercial plumbing?

The water supply, drainage, gas and fixture systems in business buildings such as offices, warehouses, restaurants and retail centers. They carry more demand than a house, often serve several floors or tenants, and must meet stricter codes, including backflow prevention and ADA-compliant fixtures.

What is the difference between commercial and residential plumbing?

Commercial plumbing serves more people for longer hours, with larger pipe, bigger water heaters and more fixtures, and it faces stricter codes and inspections. A failure also costs a business operating hours, so repairs get planned around them. Eleven key differences are covered in our longer guide.

What does a commercial plumber do?

Installs, maintains and repairs the plumbing in business buildings: drains and sewer lines, water heaters and boilers, gas piping, backflow devices and fixtures. The job includes code-required testing, emergency repairs that keep a business open, and work scheduled around tenants and operating hours.

What commercial plumbing work does DMC Service do?

Our commercial plumbing team handles:

  • Drain cleaning, hydro-jetting and camera scoping
  • Leak detection and pipe repair or replacement
  • Backflow testing and repair
  • Water heaters and boilers
  • Gas piping
  • Commercial kitchen systems and fixtures

Does DMC Service repair commercial boilers?

Yes. The plumbing team repairs and replaces commercial boilers and water heaters across the Kansas City metro, for calls like leaks, low pressure, no heat or hot water, or a unit that ignores the thermostat. If a boiler goes down, call 913-481-0505 at any hour.
